DHAKA: Bangladesh Bank Governor Dr. Atiur Rahman urged policymakers to take renewable energy as an alternative source of electricity for ensuring the country’s energy security.
“As it is the high time to decide a direction to meet up power demand, policy makers should work in favour of renewable energy,” Atiur Rahman said in a book publication ceremony at National Museum auditorium in the city Sunday.
Scholars Bangladesh organized the publication ceremony of `The Untapped Energy Mine’ written by Dr Sajed Kamal.
“Bangladesh Bank created a Tk 200 crore fund for providing people loan with a rate of 6 to 7 percent interest through commercial banks to install renewable energy technology,” said the governor.
Among others scientist Dr. Sajed Kamal, Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission Director Salahuddin, Kamal Lohani, Dr. Siful Haque, chief executive of Scholar Bangladesh Dilara A Khan attended the program.
