DHAKA : The holy Shab-e-Barat or the night of fortunes will be observed across the country Tuesday night with devotees seeking divine blessings for the wellbeing of mankind as well the Muslim Ummah.
President Zillur Rahman, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Leader of the Opposition in Partliament Begum Khaleda Zia and Jatiya Party Chairman HM Ershad issued separate messages felicitating Muslims on the occasion.
On the occasion, waz mahfil and zikr will be held in all masjids in capital Dhaka and across the counrty while different socio-cultural organisations will hold discussions and milad mahfils.
Islamic Foundation has organised waz mahfil, recitation from the Holy Quaran, milad mahfil, zikr, and other religious rituals at night to mark the occasion with due solemnity.
State Minister for Religious Affairs Advocate Mohammad Shahjahan will addressed the programme as the chief guest.
Bangladesh Television, Bangladesh Betar and private TV channels will air special programmes, while newspapers will publish articles highlighting the significance of the night.
