SAVAR: At least 200 workers of a garment factory fell sick from food poisoning at Jamgara in Ashulia Monday night.

Of them, 45 workers were admitted to different clinics and hospitals in critical condition.

Garment sources said the night shift workers of Meddler Apparels were given banana and biscuit as snacks.

“After taking the snacks, workers started vomiting and some of them fell onto the floor for extreme abdominal pain,” said worker Rehana who also took the snacks.

An officer of Meddler Apparels, on condition of anonymity, told banglanews24.com.bd that the incident might have occurred from food poisoning.

Ashulia thana OC Sirajul Islam said police investigation is on to reveal the cause of the food poisoning.
