DHAKA: A separate area plan has been designed for Barisal that envisages the divisional headquarters as a planned one which will be implemented in three phases, the planners said.
Engineering and Planning Consultant Limited (EPCL) has designed the plan for Barishal city’s development which will be unveiled formally at Dhaka Reporters Unity on Thursday.
Khondker Niaz Rahman, chief consultant of EPCL, said the plan has been made under the project of Urban Development of the government.
He said the plan for Barishal city divides 19 thousand acres of land into three phases under structural plan, urban plan and detailed area plans which prioritises local residents and economics condition.
Agriculture based eco-tourism management and separate economic region will be there under the plan, he said.
“The areas which may be turned into city by next 10 years has been considered urban. The Structural Plan eyes on the development of next 20 years”, Niaz said.
The plan also identified nine-growth centres in 780 acres land where rivers, water, road and communication will be improved. A budget was submitted to the government regarding this issue, he said.
