Govt declares Jihad against drug, Tuku says

DHAKA: State Minister for Home Advocate Shamsul Haque Tuku on Thursday said the government has declared `Jihad` (war) against illegal drugs.

“Over 50 lakh people are drug addicted in the country who have become a burden for the country,” he said while addressing a training programme on ‘Combined Implementation of Narcotic Control Act-1990 and Mobile Court Act-2009’ held at the office of Narcotic Control Department.

Director General MAN Siddique chaired the function.

Additional Director General of Narcotic Control Department Yusuf Ali, Additional Director General (Force Coordinator) Abu Taleb, Director (Operations) Odudul Bari Chowdhury also spoke at the function.
