DHAKA: Awami League-led grand alliance on Friday blamed the patronisers of militant groups for killing Gonotontry Party President Nurul Islam.
“Before his death, Nurul Islam had accused the patronisers of militant groups of the attack on him,” said Awami League presidium member and Agriculture Minister Matia Chowdhury.
She was addressing the 68th birth anniversary of Nurul Islam at Kochi-Kacha auditorium organized by Nagorik Committee.
Former President of both Gonotontry Party and Bangladesh Trade Union Center Nurul Islam and his son Tomohor Islam burned to death mysteriously in his residence on December 4, 2008.
“Nurul Islam’s death wasn’t natural. He was murdered,” the Minister said.
Awami League advisory council member Suranjit Sengupta demanded the charge sheet of Nurul Islam killing case to be submitted as soon as possible for fair investigation.
Workers Party President Rashed Khan Menon, JSD president Hasanul Haq Inu and Acting president of Trade Union Center Abul Kalam Azad also spoke with Mahfuza Khanam in the chair.
