14 BDR men sentenced to jail in Sunamganj

SYLHET: The Special Court-3 of Bangladesh Rifles Monday sentenced 14 jawans of 8 rifles battalion in jail on different terms for their involvement in BDR mutiny on February 25-26 last year.

They were also fined Tk 100 each.

The BDR Special Court-3, led by BDR Director General Maj Gen Rafiqul Islam, pronounced the verdict.

The convicts are Subedar Maj Gouranga Chandra Das (30 months), Nayek Subedar Abul Hossain (6 years), havildars Md Abdul Jalil (3 years), Md Badiul Alam (30 months) and Md Maniruzzaman (3 years), nayek Md. Harun Or Rashid (5 years), nayek assistant Md Abdul Wahid (1 year), lance nayeks Md Hiru Ullah Khan (2 years), Abdur Rahim (4 years), Biplab Kumar Pandit (3 years) and Umar Faruque Hossain (18 months), and sepoys Maniruzzaman (4 years), Sumon Marma (4 months) and Tariqul Islam (4 months).
