Go digital to enter secretariat: pay through treasury sitting at home

DHAKA: The government is going to introduce online system for submitting government treasury challan and for visitors’ entry into the secretariat, as the nation goes digital.

Officials said this move is part of the process of implementing ‘vision 2021’, which talks about building a ‘digital Bangladesh’ within the timeline.

Officials hope the initiative for online submission of government treasury challan will reduce customers’ sufferings as they will be able to pay their different types of government fees sitting at home.

“The online pass for secretariat visit will not only reduce visitors’ miseries but also ensure security of the secretariat,” said one official concerned.

Project Director of Access to Information (A2I) Project under Prime Minister Office Nazrul Islam Khan told banglanews24.com.bd that they will sign two memorandums of understanding with the finance departments of Home and Finance ministries on Wednesday evening.

Access to Information (A2I) Project under Prime Minister Office has been playing the coordinating role in implementing vision 2021 of the government.

Nazrul Islam Khan said that they will apprise all elaborately about the initiative after the signing of the memoranda.

Sources said customers have to fill up particular bank form to submit treasury challan now.

According to the Finance Department, through online system people will be able to submit treasury challan from house and it will accelerate the speed. They will get relevant information of the process from different websites of government offices.  
 
Now visitors have to enter the secretariat after filling in the name of respective person in a particular form.

According to the Home Ministry, the online passing system will help issue pass quickly.
