DHAKA: The government decided Tuesday to appoint 20,000 parttime teachers for government primary schools across the country following the shortage of teachers.
A government announcement said of the total, 40 teachers will be appointed for each upazila.
Besides, one nightguard each will be appointed for 37,672 schools in the country.
The decision was taken at meeting of the parliamentary standing committee on primary and mass education ministry at the National Parliament Building.
President of the committee Dewan Farid Gazi chaired the meeting that also finalized the vetting of the Welfare Trust (amendment) Bill-2010 for welfare of the non-government primary teachers.
“The decision was taken in view of the shortage of teachers in the government primary schools,” the meeting noted.
