DHAKA: A US$ 1 billion credit agreement will be signed during the upcoming visit of Indian Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee to Bangladesh next Saturday, officials said.
Indian Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh had announced the credits for Bangladesh for a range of projects, including railway infrastructure, supply of BG locomotives and passenger coaches, procurement of buses, and dredging projects during the “path-breaking visit” of Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to New Delhi in January this year.
“Signing the agreement would pave the way for implementation of mutually identified infrastructure-development projects in Bangladesh,” said a media release from the Indian High Commission in Dhaka.
During the visit, the Indian FM will call on Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and meet Foreign Minister Dr. Dipu Moni and Finance Minister AMA Muhith.
