DHAKA: A Dhaka Court Wednesday accepted the charge-sheet against Mahmdudur Rahman, the former Energy Adviser and acting Editor of the Daily Amar Desh, in a corruption case he is facing for not submitting his wealth statement.
Acting Metropolitan Sessions Judge Ismail Hossain fixed September 8 for indictment hearing on the charge against Mahmud, already implicated in a raft of other criminal cases.
Advocate Masud Ahmed Talukder moved for Mahmudur Rahman and Advocate Mosharaf Hossain Shahjahan, a lawyer of the Anti- Corruption Commission (ACC), stood for the state.
Masud said Assistant Director Nur Ahmad, the Investigation Officer of ACC, prayed to the court for showing Mahmudur arrested in the case on July 13 and Metropolitan Magistrate Konika Biswas granted it.
Nur Ahmad filed the case against Mahmudur Rahman with Gulshan Thana on June 13 on charge of refraining from submitting an account of his wealth “despite having received the notice to this effect”.
