Keep sports away from politics: PM

DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Thursday urged the people to keep country’s sports sectors free from politics.

“We are trying to develop the sports sector. It is also a priority for us. I urge all to be conscious so that the sector doesn’t fall prey to politics,” she said.

The Prime Minister was addressing a discussion meeting commemorating the 61th birth anniversary of Sheikh Kamal, her brother.

Abahani Supporters Forum organized the programme with its President Nizamuddin Ahmed in the chair at Abahani playground in Dhanmondi.

“Youths are now drug addicted. They are taking the path of terrorism. We must expand sports to keep them away from the path of destruction,” she said.

Abahani club office bearers Salman F Rahman and Quazi Shahed Ahmed also spoke.
