DHAKA: Bangladesh Paribesh Andolan (BAPA) Friday demanded ensuring safe road transport system and making a law with a provision of tough action against the drivers responsible for accident.
The BAPA leaders, at a citizen’s rally here, also demanded speedy trial proceedings of the accident related cases and considering road accident as non-bailable offence.
BAPA and Families United Against Road Accident (FUARA) held the rally in front of the National Museum in the morning.
Mentioning the recent deaths of Women and Children Affairs Secretary Razia Begum and BSCIC Chairman Siddiqur Rahman and many others in fatal road accidents, BAPA leaders said the number of road accidents could not be reduced as the arrested drivers and helpers get bail due to the loopholes of law.
They also raised a number of demands including the speedy trial of the drivers responsible for accidents, canceling fake driving license, removing unfit vehicles from the roads and increasing social awareness.
