DHAKA: A fire broke out in a readymade garment factory in the city’s Tejgaon industrial belt Monday, burning some apparel products and yearns.
Fire brigade sources said the fire sparked at about 1:15 pm at the Focus Garment factory located near the Nabisco crossing.
“A total of 14 firefighting units drove in to the spot and doused the blaze from the top floor of the five-storey building at about 2:45pm,” said one fire official.
Quamrul Islam, Director of the garment factory, told banglanews24.com.bd that the fire might have originated from electric short circuit. “It might have left a bulk amount of sweaters and yearns burned--it is difficult to estimate the loss instantly.”
Omar Faruq, OC of Tejgaon Thana, said police also rushed to the spot and tried to bring the situation under control.
