Cleansing Augean stables: Mobile court fines foul businesses in Gazipur

GAZIPUR: A mobile court led by an executive magistrate conducted raids in Gazipur Thursday and  fined 11 offenders, including hospitals and clinics, to pay Tk 2.9 lakh  and arrested two persons on different allegations.

The mobile court led by executive magistrate of Gazipur District, with the help of the anti-crime elite force Rapid Action Battalion(RAB), searched different hospitals, clinics and diagnostic centers and Chinese restaurant under Joydevpur thana as part of the cleansing operation.

A press release signed by assistant director of RAB-1 Captain Muhammad Sohel said the court found New China Restaurant in Gazipur Sadar preparing food in unhealthy conditions and serving  low-quality and-adulterated foodstuffs.

The modern-day eatery was punished with a fine of Tk 75,000 for cheating gormets with sub-standard cook.

Owner of the restaurant Abdul Quddus Ali,25, and his assistant Mohammad Moktar Hossain,28, were arrested for failing to pay the fines instantly when the offenders were meted out spot justice.

Besides, the court fined Sinha Hospital, Insaf Hospital, Green Hospital and Diagnostic, Alfa Diagnostic Laboratory, Alfa Diagnostic, Confident Medicade, Al-Noor Islami Hospital, Gazipur clinic, City home Diagnostic and  Radium Diagnostic the rest of the amount of money for running without permission and in unhealthy atmosphere.
