DHAKA: A group of young professionals on Friday demanded the government to stop oppression on garments workers.
They also demanded immediate release of garment workers arrested during the recent unrest in the garment industries and fix the minimum wage at Tk 5000 for workers.
Without any platform or under any banner, teachers, poets, singers and cultural activists formed a human chain in front of the National Museum on Friday noon and made the demand.
Addressing the demonstration, Hasan Tarique Chowdhury said the law enforcers have detained more than 4000 garments workers across the country on charge of creating anarchy in the sector.
