Bhagne Shahid on 4-day remand again

DHAKA: A Dhaka court Friday granted a 4-day remand for the stand-in chief of the banned militant outfit JMB, Anwar Alam alias ‘Bhagne’ Shahid, in a case filed for the attempt to murder Dr Humayun Azad.

Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate AKM Emdadul Haque issued the order after CID police inspector and the Investigation Officer of the case Mostafizur Rahman Anwar Alam plead for seven days remand.

He was placed on 12 days’ remand in three phases.

General Recording Officer (GRO) of Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate court Sheikh Farid told banglanews24.com.bd Jamaat Nayeb-e Ameer Delwar Hossain Sayedee was also taken on 12 days remand in the same case.

On February 27, 2004, some miscreants attacked professor Humayun Azad near TSC while he was returning home from Ekushey Book Fair, living him seriously injured.

Azad died on August 11, 2007 during research work in Germany.
