DHAKA: Special security measures have been heightened for the mourning-day programmes as the nation mourns the assassination of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Sunday.

DMP commissioner AKM Shahidul Haque Saturday said, “More police will be deployed at sensitive points of the capital. Close-circuit (CC) cameras, metal detectors and video cameras will be set up as additional security measures.”

The city police boss further said police reinforcements have already been deployed at different points to put up a security bulwark around Dhanmondi and Banani graveyard areas for ensuring highest security.

A total of 1,690 police personnel, including 168 female cops, would be deployed so that the National Mourning Day can be observed peacefully, he added.

Besides, police striking force would be on duty all the time in this regard.
