KOLKATA: Initiatives have been taken to mark the National Mourning Day on the 35th death anniversary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in the West Bengal State capital of India.
The Deputy High Commission of Bangladesh in Kolkata will observe the day with rich tribute, said Kazi Mustak Jahir, Press secretary of the Commission, to banglanews24.com.bd.
On August 15, newly appointed deputy high commissioner Muhammad Mostafizur Rahman will hoist the national flag at half-mast at 7am. Special prayer will be offered for salvation for the departed souls of Bangabandhu and his family members.
On behalf of the High Commission and Baker Hostel, wreaths would be placed at the portrait of Bangabandhu located outside at the hostel at 9am.
Officials of the Commission will also hold a discussion marking the day.
In another development, Mohammad Nurul Huda, political and cultural counselor of the deputy high commission, will also inaugurate an exhibition with over 100 photographs of Bangabandhu at Barakpur in North 24 Parganas on Sunday.
