Sirajganj: The district Motor Workers Union has gone for a strike since Monday morning in demand to stop Shallow engine human hauler movement - Nasiman-Kariman and Bhotbhoti.
Local sources informed banglanews24.com.bd that the Motor Workers Union leaders took position in different parts of the town since 5 am Monday and blocked all vehicle movement.
Locals informed that the motor workers and leaders are also impeding CNG scooters at different traffic junctions and gas stations of the city.
Hundreds of passengers returning from a 3-day holiday are facing a very difficult time for the strike.
District police super Mosharraf Hossain told banglanews24.com.bd that they have nothing to do if the bus owners and workers pull off their vehicles from the road.
He also said “Shallow engine human haulers are not stopped for the sake of general people. The fare is cheaper than the bus, so commoners are largely dependent on this type of vehicles.”
“If we halt these popular vehicles, many illegal buses and minibuses would also be stopped under the same rule,” he added.
However, after 10 am, a few CNG scooters have been seen carrying passengers in different areas of the city. Rickshaws and motorcycle movement is normal.
