DHAKA: Now ‘regionalism’ outweighs nepotism in recruitment of manpower for the Civil Aviation Authority, informed sources said, as one district made the most out of the job cake.
The Authority recently recruited 82 people on contract basis, and among them, 48 came from Gopalganj, said insiders, and banglanews24.com.bd found out the fact.
They were posted on July 15 to different airports in the country, including Shahjalal International Airport, Chittagong Shah Amanat International Airport and Sylhet Osmani International Airport.
The sources concerned said there was question arising about the aviation authority as to whether they were appointed on master role or not.
Five people were appointed from Jessore as the second majority after the 48 from Gopalganj.
Besides, four from Barisal, three each from Dhaka, Faridpur, Lalmonirhat and Jhenidah, and two each from Madaripur, Pabna, Pirojpur and Bagerhat got the coveted jobs in the air-communications sector
One each was appointed from Lakkhipur, Feni, Natore and Nilphamari.
Of the recruits, 14 were posted as accounts clerk, four information assistant, six record keeper, six storekeeper traffic-hand post, seven as pump driver and 16 as EM helper.
Moreover, 29 people were recruited in different posts, including AC operator, security supervisor, MT driver and civil helper.
Three people were recruited from the constituency of Civil Aviation Minister GM Quader.
Air Commodore Mahmud Hossain, Chairman of the Civil Aviation Authority, could not be reached when banglanews24.com.bd tried to contact him several times for his views.
