4 customs officials, staffs suspended for revenue evasion in Benapol

BENAPOLE (JESSORE): Customs department suspended four of its staffs including two officials of Benapole Checkposts’ customs cargo branch.

Benapole Customs Commissioner Dr. Abdul Mannan Sikder issued the suspension order accusing Assistant Revenue Officer (Inspector) of Customs Cargo Division of Check post Nurul Haq, Debasis Kundu, Sub-Inspector Abdul Malek and Customs Sepoy Asadur Rahman.

Recently, Sepoy Nurul Haq and Debasis Kundu got promotion.

The cargo Record Division did not keep any record for two Indian trucks, which had transported goods from India to Bangladesh.

Benapol Customs was confirmed about smuggle of goods after cross-checking Indian Customs documents.

In another move, five officials of Chuadanga Darshana Customs Station were served stand release order for their negligence to duty.

They were: Revenue Officer (Superintendent) Rezaul Haq, assistant officers (Inspector) Ali Akber, Mostofa Kamal, babul Hossain, Moinuddin and Nazir Hossain Sarker.

Elite Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) seized Indian Saries, three-piece and other goods worth Tk 3 crore from Maitri Express train from India at Dhaka Cantonment Station on August 11.

The customs officials were accused of neglecting their duties as they did not take revenue for those goods.
