PIROJPUR: The investigation team of the International Crimes Tribunal Thursday completed their first phase investigation on two cases filed against detained Jamaat-e-Islami leader Delwar Hossain Sayedee here.
After completing the works, the team members left here for Dhaka Friday morning.
During their stay here, the investigators recorded the statements of plaintiffs, 22 witnesses and people concerned after visiting the spots mentioned in the cases.
The team reached here on Tuesday night to probe into the allegations of war crimes against detained Jamaat-e-Islami leader Delwar Hossain Sayedee.
Two cases were filed with Sadar and Zianagar thanas in May and August last year against Delwar Hossain Sayedee for his involvement with “genocide, rape, looting and arson” at Pirojpur with a Pakistani army Captain named Ezaz during the war of Liberation in 1971.
Later, the cases were forwarded to the International Crime Tribunal.
In one case, the complainant said, “On May 8, 1972, Sayedee murdered freedom fighters Alamgir Poshari, Mahbub Poshari, Chan Mia Poshari, Jahangir Poshari and Kanchan and looted cash and gold. He also set fire to their houses.”
In another allegation, the complainant states: “Forces led by Sayedee on June 2, 1971 attacked the Hindu areas of Umedkhali village, looted cash and gold, set fire to houses and killed freedom fighters. They also handed over young girls to the Pakistani occupation forces,” the complainant added.
