Mob vandalize vehicles in Malibagh over rumor of boyÔÇÖs death

DHAKA: Angry mob Friday vandalized vehicles in city’s Malibagh area following a rumor over the death of a teenaged boy in a road accident, disrupting traffic for an hour.

Wittiness said a minibus hit Sabuj, 14, around 2:30pm, leaving him seriously injured.

As the news of Sabuj’s death spread, local people took to the street and damaged 15/20 vehicles.

They also put up barricade at Malibagh, disrupting vehicular movement on the busy road for and hour.

On information, Ramna and Rampura thana police rushed in and took the situation under control. At that time, police and agitated people locked into a chase and counter chase.

Ramna thana OC Sibly Noman informed banglanews24.com.bd that the bus was seized but driver and helper managed to escape.

Injured Sabuj was admitted to a local clinic. Later he was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital as his condition deteriorated.
