BG chairman gets bail in four other ÔÇÿharassmentÔÇÖ cases

DHAKA: Separate courts have granted bail to Bashundhara Group chairman Ahmed Akbar Sobhan alias Shah Alam in four cases filed during the past caretaker regime under state of emergency.

Chief Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court of Shahadat Hossain granted him the bail in a case filed by one Hajera Parveen of Maizdi upazilla of Noakhali as the renowned businessman appeared before the court and pleaded for the bail.

Another Court of Dilara Alo Chandana granted him the bail in a case filed by former officer of Bangladesh Navy Kazi Sarwer Hossain.

Both cases were filed in February 2007 with Badda police station.

The BG chairman got bail from the court of Rashed Kabir in two other cases filed by SA Malek in March, 2007 and Gazi Obaidul Kader in April, 2007 in the same police station.  

Earlier on Thursday, Ahmed Akbar Sobhan got bail in another harassment case filed in a row against country’s top businessmen as well as politicians during the tenure of the interim government, the defense counsel said.
