BENAPOLE: Bangladesh Border Guard (BBG) has constructed the first ever observation post on Kazipur border in Gangni of Meherpur district.
According to the BBG source, some 100 observation posts would be set up in the border areas to strengthen vigilance along the border to stop trans-border smuggling, human trafficking and other border crimes.
A total of Tk 1.75 lakh will be spent to build each 23.5 feet observation post.
Neighbouring India started setting up of observation posts along its border with Bangladesh since 1983 with their first post at Boyra under Bagda thana of North 24 Pargana district.
