DHAKA: Home Minister advocate Sahara Khatun claimed that Tarique Rahman and Arafat Rahman Koko, sons of opposition leader Khaleda Zia, are physically well now following treatment abroad on parole.

“Her sons have been undergoing treatment abroad for about two years, but she did not visit them even for once. What kind of a mother is she?” Sahara asked.

Talking to reporters after a meeting at the secretariat, the home minister said the government decision to cancel the parole of Khaleda’s younger son Arafat Rahman Koko was taken lawfully.

“Their lawyer Barrister Mahbub Uddin Khokon filed a writ saying that Koko is undergoing treatment in hospital. But the medical certificate submitted with the petition was of the month of August and it says ‘he has left’ the hospital after treatment,” Sahara said.

“We got reports that Koko is traveling different countries, including Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) and Singapore, in the name of treatment,” she told the reporters.

“Is he trying to avoid the case?” the home minister threw the question.
