DHAKA: The Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism Tuesday issued a show-cause notice to Biman Bangladesh Airlines Chairman Air Vice-Marshal (retd) Jamal Uddin Ahmed for his recent comment carried in the media, taking a tug-of-war over contentious affairs of the national flag carrier to a new height.
Ministry sources said the show-cause notice was faxed to the Biman chairman without fixing any time for his reply.
The notice, signed by joint-secretary (Biman and Civil Aviation) Jamal Uddin, stated that different media recently published and broadcast news with the Chairman’s comments that may create “confusion in the public mind”.
“The matter is not positive for the ministry’s as well as the government’s image,” the ministry noted in the notice.
The Biman Chairman made a comment on the ministry concerned, its minister and secretary in the media on August 18 in the wake of controversies between them as well as the parliamentary standing committee on the ministry.
