DHAKA: British Foreign Secretary William Hague has said his country supports in principle the trial of war crimes.

He stated this at bilateral talks with visiting Bangladesh Foreign Minister Dr. Dipu Moni at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in London Tuesday.

Regarding the ongoing trial of war crimes in Bangladesh, Dipu Moni underscored the strong resolve of the Government to end the “culture of impunity”, establish the rule of law and bring back accountability in governance.

A message from the Bangladesh High Commission in London, received here Wednesday, said William Hague assured that Britain would work intensively with Bangladesh towards a satisfactory outcome from the next round of global negotiations for combating climate change in Cancun, Mexico.

He also assured that British development cooperation would become stronger and the flow of assistance to Bangladesh would increase in the years ahead.
