The Department of Immigration and Passports has cancelled the passports of 97 individuals, including ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, due to their alleged involvement in enforced disappearances and the July killings.

At a press briefing, Chief Adviser’s Deputy Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad Majumder announced that 22 people had their passports revoked for involvement in enforced disappearances, while 75, including Sheikh Hasina, had theirs cancelled in connection with the July killings.

Azad did not disclose the names of the remaining individuals whose passports were revoked.

In a separate update on the national elections, CA's Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam referred to Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus's statement.

Prof Yunus had earlier indicated that the next general election could be scheduled between late 2025 and mid-2026 following necessary reforms.
